Notes:

-The CH1 at the start of each round does not count as a stitch.

-You’ll be working the first stitch into the same stitch as your CH1 unless otherwise noted.

-You DO NOT TURN in this pattern.

-Any worsted weight yarn will work for this pattern, I’ve just found that cotton is the most absorbent of liquid that may drip or sweat from your cup!

Supplies Needed

  • 5.00 mm (H) crochet hook
  • Cotton worsted weight (#4) yarn
  • Needle to weave in ends
  • Scissors
  • Label/ button or tag (optional)

Gauge

For the appropriate sizing of the hot coffee cozy, your 28 FHDC chain prior to joining in the round, should be 8″ long. (If you chose to do a SC chain, your CH28 should also be 8″)

  • MR- Magic Ring/ Magic Circle
  • CH- Chain
  • SC- Single Crochet
  • SLST- Slip Stitch
  • HDC- Half Double Crochet
  • BLO- Back Loop Only
  • 3rd Loop- 3rd Loop of Stitch (pictures below)
  • FHDC- Foundation Half Double Crochet
  • SK- Skip

Remember to read the notes before starting!

Round 1 – FHDC 28, join with a SLST to first FHDC to  in the round

(If you’re unfamiliar or uncomfortable with this method, you can CH28, SLST to first CH making sure not to twist your chain, CH1 and HDC in each ST around, joining to first HDC with a SLST) (28)

Round 2 – CH1, SK 1st ST, HDC in 2nd ST, HDC back into your SK ST. (This creates the criss-cross effect) *SK the next ST, HDC in the next ST, HDC back into the SK ST*. Repeat from * to * and SLST into the 1st HDC of the round to join. (28) If you need help with this row, please see the pictures below the pattern.

Round 3 – CH1, HDC in 3rd Loop of every ST, SLST to first HDC of the round to join. (28)

Round 4 – Repeat round 2. (28)

Round 5 AND 6 – Repeat round 3. (28)

Round 7 – Repeat round 2. (28)

Round 8 – Repeat round 3. (28)

Round 9 – Repeat round 2. (28)

Round 10 – CH1, HDC in each ST around, SLST to first HDC of the round to join. (28)

Round 11 – CH1, SC in 3rd Loop of every ST around, SLST to first SC of round to join. (28)

Fasten Off and Weave in your ends!
